COMMON QUESTIONS
HOW LONG DOES THERAPY LAST?
The length of therapy will depend on you and what you want to work on. The first session is used to assess what you would like to work on and to determine approximately how long it may take to reach your goals. The length of therapy can vary depending on the goals you identify and the type of therapy you engage in.
HOW DO I PAY FOR THERAPY? WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?
I currently accept payment by cash, check and/or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express) and can bill Medicaid/HUSKY, most Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Optum (Connecticare/Oxford) plans directly for those covered by these plans. The initial evaluation session is $200 and subsequent sessions are $150 per therapy hour.
IS WHAT I DISCUSS IN THERAPY CONFIDENTIAL?
Confidentiality is a respected part of the social worker’s code of ethics. Privacy is an important part of helping people feel comfortable sharing personal information and in developing a therapeutic relationship. There are laws in place to help protect your privacy. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) creates national standards for protecting your personal health information which includes mental health records.
